It was supposed to be the perfect Christmas. I had no idea it would end in murder…
It’s my first Christmas with my handsome new husband and we’re spending it with his wealthy family in their remote, luxurious lodge in the snowy Irish mountains. I feel completely out of my depth; their perfect world is so different to my life before I met Jack. But I’ve got to make this marriage work. And I’ll do whatever it takes.
With the festivities in full swing, I quickly discover that behind their flawless image the Silver family are hiding plenty of secrets. Jack’s glamorous step-mother Dawn welcomes me with open arms. Then I find out she’s whispering about me behind my back. Days into our stay, Jack and my successful father-in-law Patrick have a heated argument. My dream family holiday is turning into a nightmare.
Just when I think it can’t get any worse, my sister-in-law Yasmin looks at me through narrowed eyes and accuses me of something terrible. I stare across the room at the man I married, hoping he will defend me, but Jack doesn’t say a word. Something is very wrong.
With the snow falling hard, I’m trapped in the lodge with a group of people I can’t trust – and no way out.
I start to wish that I’d never stepped foot in this place. And then one of our party goes missing…
Did I make a mistake in coming here? And will it cost me my life…?

" [...] As I close my eyes and finally drift off, the last thought I have is: How can I get rid of my sister-in-law? [...]"
Wow! The perfect Christmas psychological thriller. I didn't know that while reading "The Christmas Holiday" I would experience such an emotional rollercoaster. It was fantastic and exciting fun. The ending shocked me. I didn't expect this turn of events. This is a big plus for the author. I envy Mikayla Davids' imagination. We have some main characters here. There is a newly married woman, Alicia, her husband Jack and his entire family. Everyone meets for Christmas at his father Patrick's mountain home. What can come of this? Will Alicia find her way in her new family? Will everyone accept her? I will tell you in secret that it will be a tragedy. Who is the suspect, who is the victim, and who is the real murderer? Maybe you will be able to discover the truth ahead of time. Unfortunately, I didn't succeed. Maybe you'll do better. Alicia is the character I liked the most. She tried to fit in with her new family at all costs. Jack is a typical son of a rich dad. He is hiding a secret from everything, which even his wife doesn't know about. Yasmin is Jack's sister-in-law. She is the mother of almost one-year-old Lily. This character annoyed me the most. I don't like these types of people. It's worth taking a closer look at it. You will meet a few other characters. I wonder who you will like and who, unfortunately, you won't. I liked the action with its interesting twists. I am delighted with the snowy atmosphere of this book. You can feel the stars coming here. While reading this book, I imagined myself eating the same foods as the Silver family. Thanks to this story, I felt the magic of Christmas. If, like me, you love Christmas thrillers, I refer you to the book "The Christmas Holiday". I would love to read other novels by Mikayla Davids.
