The monograph is a portfolio of resources presenting a panorama of translation phenomena in the form of a conceptual-analytical grid. The process of unifying or correlating these concepts should not suggest readers to limit their further translational research. The book is dedicated primarily to researchers and students of English-Polish and Polish-English translation (e.g., preparing theses in the field of translation studies). Therefore, this work may lead to the formulation of new questions and the improvement of methods of searching for own solutions, both on the part of learners and teachers. It is to be hoped that apart from academics, translation practitioners will also find this teaching aid a useful didactic tool, because the ‘compendium’ can be used in many ways, as: an introduction to translation studies, a methodological manual, a set of practical exercises for learning translations or a set of language exercises for translators in the English-Polish pair. The book consists of eight thematic parts that provide an overview of theoretical concepts (usually covered in an academic course), as well as proposals for practical assignments and projects for students to prepare on their own or during teamwork in the classroom. Practical components include exercise instructions, target text suggestions, or a key comment of how to evaluate the performed task. Each chapter is summarized by a methodological synthesis referring to the main themes covered in it or referring to subsequent issues. Undoubtedly, the main objective of this work is to depict the most prominent elements of translation and initiate deep analytical understanding that may lead to valuable discussions (e.g., during translation classes).
