This medical terminology text uses a Programmed Learning approach that is ideal for classroom use, self-paced study, or distance learning. It is broken down into concise self-instruction frames followed by review frames for immediate feedback and reinforcement. Actual medical records and medical record analysis activities are used extensively throughout the book. The second edition highlights include: new design and full-color illustrations (with additional artwork added) keep students interested and aid in understanding of material; new content including an expanded chapter on basic term components gives more detailed coverage of term components, breaking down medical terms and determining meaning; acronyms and abbreviations chart at the end of each chapter; summary of terms at the end of each chapter provides a comprehensive list of the terms presented; chapter objectives checklist at the beginning of each chapter helps guide students through the chapter content; Text and Student Resource CD-ROM integrated through chapter checklists, along with video chapter introductions to provide a more interactive learning experience, and encourage use of the CD; and, Bookmark is part of the approach and allows students to cover up the left-hand answer columns in information frames while memorizing terms or completing exercises in the right-hand column. The highlights also include: actual medical records used throughout add dimension to the users' understanding and present real-world situations; no other text uses medical records as extensively as Willis, and we were the first; Review exercises, including extensive medical record analyses activities, multiple-choice, short-answer, matching, fill-in-the-blank, and anatomic identification exercises, test the student's knowledge of the terms just studied.
