Juror Marjorie Schick has been a major force in contemporary jewelry for over 30 years. An active participant in the New Jewelry Movement of the 1970s, her exploration of new materials and experimentation with scale helped create a new language for jewelry. Her particular interest in the marriage of jewelry and sculpture has garnered great respect as a trailblazer and risk-taker. In all her years in the field, she has never lost sight of the relationship between sculptural ornament and the body. Marjories work is in the collections of such esteemed institutions as The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Renwick Gallery, and the Musuem of Arts and Design. She is a Fellow of the American Craft Council and a 20-year member of the North American Society of Goldsmiths. She has been widely praised in publications including American Craft, Ornament, Metalsmith and ARTnews. Marjorie currently teaches at the University of Kansas.
