The completely revised and updated Wolf-Heidegger's Atlas of Human Anatomy is the result of an intensive collaboration between recognized scientists, dissectors and graphic artists under the editorship of Prof. Dr. Petra Köpf-Maier. The two volumes are now available in two different editions to ensure that students and teaching staff can choose the terminology best suited to their needs. The traditional edition is based on the 6th and latest edition of the 'Nomina Anatomica' (1989). The nomenclature of the monolingual edition is based on the new 1998 edition of the 'Terminologia Anatomica' (in cooperation with by Prof. Dr. Arthur W. English, Professor for Anatomy and Cell Biology at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga.). The superior anatomical drawings, for which this classic is renowned, are in full color throughout this new edition, which also includes many new anatomical sections. Because a thorough knowledge of macroscopic and sectional anatomy is an absolute prerequisite for successful clinical work today, careful attention has been paid to the development of these sections. Modern X-ray plates, CT, MRI and ultrasound images enhance the scope of this atlas and further emphasize the enormous clinical importance of modern imaging techniques. By placing anatomical sections and radiological images directly opposite each other, the editor challenges as well as helps students to learn how to read and interpret CT and MRI scans and encourages new approaches to understanding these images. Wolf-Heidegger's Atlas of Human Anatomy portrays an accurate, lifelike view of the body's organ systems. It addresses the needs of students of human medicine and dentistry during their pre-clinical and clinical studies, while it serves as a practical anatomical reference for clinical practitioners.
