Eva Fellner in her novel "The Highlanderess. Enja's Voyage" presents us with very difficult times for women who lived in the 13th and 14th centuries.
I met an exceptional heroine who had to fight for survival from early childhood. Enja von Caerlaverock pretended to be a boy for some time. Later she was kidnapped and perfidiously marked. This mark made her life difficult, but also reminded her how easily one can lose freedom.
Enja is like the title character of the series "Xena: Warrior Princess" to me. True strength lies in a woman.
The cover of this book is phenomenal. I will add right away that despite its large volume - over 500 pages, it reads very quickly. The very beginning of this story is captivating and makes you think.
The only downside, in my opinion, is the constant time jumps. Sometimes you can get lost.
Despite everything, it is worth reaching for "The Highlanderess. Enja's Voyage".
