This Open University co-publication is aimed at 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates and sets out to explore the significance of social psychology in the 21st century. It provides coverage of the main topics in contemporary social psychology in line with BPS curriculum guidelines; traces the historical development of socila psychology; presents insights from a range of mainstream and critical perspectives; and supports students in developing advanced academic skills of critical evaluation and argument. Topics include the self and others, emotions, conflict, relationships, mental health, the body, personality, prejudice and group processes. All chapters draw on both contemporary and classical research and, where possible, include examples from beyond the UK and US to include social psychological work from Europe and the rest of the world.
