"Instructional Patterns: Strategies for Maximizing Student Learning" examines instruction from the learners' point of view. Learning tenets focused on maximizing students' potential for learning are included in each chapter. Each instructional strategy is reviewed in a comprehensive manner and positioned in the text under the following instructional patterns: Teacher Centered; Teacher Student Interactive; Student Centered; and Thinking and Organizing the Content. Additionally, there are two other sections of the book: first, Factors that Influence All Instruction, including differentiated instructional practices and confluent forces, historical, psychological and social factors that affect instructional decision making; and the second, Practical Issues of Instruction, lesson planning, classroom management and assessment and accountability. The chapters include up-to-date pedagogical practices based upon research evidence and issues confronting teachers working with diverse populations.
