Emotion research has become a mature branch of psychology, with its own standardised measures, induction procedures, data analysis challenges, and sub-disciplines. During the past decade, a number of books addressing the major questions in the study of emotion have been published in response to a rapidly increasing demand from psychologists whose research has begun to focus on or to be involved in the books addressing the major questions in the study of emotion. These books have typically been concerned with the publication of results and/or the explication of emotion-related theory. Few have devoted space to an explicit discussion of tools for conducting emotion research, although the study of emotion frequently requires highly specialised procedures, instruments, and coding strategies. It will contain relevant background literature, psychometric data, and copies of stimuli, instruments, scales, and coding manuals, as well as a wealth of sold advicefrom leaders in the field. The volume will serve to increase the productivity of the field, as well as the speed and accuracy with which emotion research can be communicated. It will also enhance the development of new elicitation and assessment procedures by providing a stadardisation of measures that will discourage researchers from reinventing approaches where sufficient resources currently exist. The convenience of such a reference is difficult to overstate, as it will allow researchers and students to avoid scrambling through a disparate and frequently disorganised literature to find, evaluate, and implement a scale or stimulus approach in preparation for evaluating specific research questions.
