Financial Accounting An Introduction to Concepts Methods & U

Ocena: 0 (0 głosów)
This widely respected financial accounting text captures the predominant market share among graduate, MBA, and better undergraduate programs. It focuses on presenting, with great clarity, both the basic concepts underlying financial statements and the terminology and methods that allow students to interpret, analyze, and evaluate actual corporate financial statements. Each chapter features 'Problems for Self-Study,' giving students additional information and illustration on complex topics before they move on to more complicated material. Financial statement analysis is covered early in the text, giving students a strong foundation before they progress to related topics. Many texts don't include coverage until the final chapters. Streamlined, yet comprehensive, this text has been reworked into 14 chapters enabling instructors to cover all chapters and topics as well as giving the flexibility to incorporate outside materials. Chapters open with a list of important concepts, followed by examples illustrating their application. End-of-chapter material tests students' ability to apply chapter concepts to new problems. Numerous user-oriented problems and cases based on financial statement data of actual real world companies appear at the end of most chapters. Companies featured include AOL, Sun Microsystems, Wendy's, Kellogg's, Boston Chicken and General Electric and students are encouraged to consider management uses of the information as well as financial accounting implications.New to this Edition:Based on reviewer feedback, the applications of accrual accounting concepts (formerly chapter 4) have been integrated into corresponding material throughout the text, and we have added coverage of derivatives and hedging (Chapter 10). Coverage of marketable securities is now located in Chapter 11 so that coverage of the topic corresponds with other investment accounting coverage for a more cohesive unit. The sequence of coverage of investments in securities and Shareholders' Equity have been reversed (Chapters 11 and 12). Discussion of how comprehensive income uses unrealized illustrates the required disclosure procedures. The text has new end-of-chapter exercises and problems. Most chapters now include cases, such as the Computer Needs, Merck, and Petite-Mart cases. The test bank has been greatly enhanced to give instructors more selections on exams and quizzes. A new dedicated Website features additional coverage of advanced topics such as currency translation, pension benefits and general price-level accounting. Instructor's can easily add material and cases to their course as appropriate and each topic contains corresponding exercises or problems.
