A city on edge, a murderer who holds a secret, and an aspiring female lawyer put to the test…
When her LA law firm hands junior attorney Rebecca Holt the pro bono case of a convicted felon, her heart sinks. She doesn’t want to help murderers go free.
But volatile and obsessive Nick Malone is less interested in his parole hearing than telling Rebecca a story. That of the so-called Crescent City Killer who consigned the beaten bodies of several young women to the humid swamps and bayous of Louisiana.
Rebecca has no choice but to listen to Malone as he takes her back to the suffocating, sultry heat of New Orleans’ sleazy underbelly. A city rife with corruption, the marginalized, and the forgotten, who became the prey.
The assistant district attorney at the time headed an incompetent team of losers and has-beens. It was almost as if she was set up to fail. Pursuing her only lead meant making a tough decision with serious consequences.
But how does Malone know so much about this killer who stalked the backstreets and jazz bars of The Big Easy, yet left no trace? And when Malone reveals his secrets, will Rebecca be ready to step up and fight for the truth?
THAT CARE FORGOT is a totally gripping legal crime thriller set in present-day Los Angeles and 1990s New Orleans. It is the debut novel of former attorney and federal prosecutor James Warren. Look out for his forthcoming PROTECTION RACKET, another crime thriller about a defense lawyer in New York.

[...] Tracking down a serial killer is next to impossible, but sometimes they're apprehened. [...]"
"That Care Forgot" by James Warren is, in my opinion, a very successful thriller. I was drawn into this story and I couldn't stop reading until I found out the ending. The ending shook me up a bit and I admit that it surprised me.
"That Care Forgot" is an interesting thriller that you should get to know. We are dealing with a prisoner, Nicholas Malone, who may be trying to get out of prison early. What did he do that his home is currently prison? I'll tell you a secret, it won't be an easy case. I felt sorry for his lawyer. His lawyer will be the young Rebecca Holt. Before Malone talks to her about his case, she has to listen to a certain story. Thanks to Nicholas, we will jump in time to 1999, or even 1984. There we will meet another lawyer - Cassandra Morgan. She investigates the murder of young women.
This is a real treat for all lovers of time jumps. And also for those who love to read and chase serial killers.
The cover of "That Care Forgot" is as mysterious and dark as the whole story.
I'm eager to read another novel by James Warren.
