This richly illustrated guide to life and death in the Stone Age accompanies an exhibition held at the Landesmuseum in Mainz during the summer of 2003. It gathers together and illustrates artefacts from a range of Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic sites, predominantly in Germany, and includes stone and flint tools, figurines, beads, decorative objects, loomweights and pottery. Eleven essays discuss the archaeological evidence both in general and from specific sites in Germany.
