I was reading the latest book, "I'm not afraid" by Ellen Nancy and Roxanne Reid, to my almost seven-year-old son. What did we notice first? Of course, for the beautiful illustrations created by Anastasia Dragunova. We are charmed by them. Congratulations.
Moving on to the content of the book, we must say that we were very worried about a certain hedgehog. A hedgehog named Herbie had to return safely to his home. The only way he could go was through a dark and scary forest. Will lonely Herbie find his way home? Will he overcome his fear? Or will it be fear that overcomes him? My son was terrified. Alone, he would never go into a dark and scary forest.
Our hedgehog had the adventures of his life. There were many obstacles in his way.
We liked the mantra Herbie used to say as he made his way home. Want to know what he said?
"I am not afraid of the...".
Do you also have some words of encouragement that you repeat to yourself when you are very afraid?
Thanks to the brave hedgehog, my son learned that it is not worth being afraid. All the difficult obstacles that we encounter in life are surmountable if we have some higher purpose.
In Poland, we have a saying: "The devil is not as terrible as he is painted". This applies perfectly to this book.
We read the book "I'm not afraid" before going to bed. It is worth reading books to your child that show what to do in difficult situations.
The book is recommended mainly for children from 4 to 9 years old.
My son rated this story 10/10. He is very pleased with it. I liked it too.
We must read the next books by Ellen Nancy and Roxanne Reid.
We recommend.
